UAF students need your support!

We send our very best wishes for the health and safety to all alumni and friends during these uncertain times.

When the university announced in March that students would not physically return to campus after spring break, due to the virus, many of you asked how to help. Three initiatives rose to the top: 

• The UAF Student Support Fund was created by the UAF Alumni Association last year to help students facing one-time emergencies and challenges. This fund provides financial assistance for housing displacement, medical emergencies and other unexpected costs. The Student Support Fund already has helped more than 70 students. Sometimes a little bit goes a long way toward keeping students on track to graduation.
• The UAF Food Pantry supports students who may not be able to afford food. No one should go hungry. The Food Pantry serves any UAF student with a PolarExpress card. Students may pick up one bag of food per week.
• The UAF General Scholarship Fund goes to student scholarships at UAF. It is the broadest category of scholarship funding, available to any UAF student in good academic standing studying under any program.

As we prepare for our first-ever virtual commencement ceremony on May 23, our #NanookNation is following all federal and state guidelines for staying socially distanced. Together, we will ensure that our students are supported through these times, continue their education and leave their mark on the world.
